RE: Outer Banks week planning for September

September is the best time to go to the Outer Banks because the water is warm then for swimming, the fishing is gret, and there are no crowds.

RE: Potential scam - Head's up to you sellers out there

For those who do not know, you NEVER need to give your
PayPal account number to a buyer. EBay and PayPal handle the transfer automatically and safely for you.

RE: Porta-Bote??

I have a 12-foot Porta-bote, and really like it. Bought the
Nissan outboard with it - good price from Porta-bote. There is an active portabote users group on yahoo.

RE: self-contained or SELF-CONTAINED

Corky,
GREAT WORK! Thank you, very much, for explaining all this to us so well, with the links to the products you used. Thinking about the problems getting potable water all over the South after hurricane Katrina, or all over the midwest today because of the extensive flooding -- this could literally be a life-saver for many people. I am going to start assembling a similar system this week!

RE: Which Bridge Tunnel?

I strongly suggest that you do not use the old tunnel, mostly due to lots of traffic issues there. The newer I-664 tunnel is a much nicer route. However, you MUST check and find out the vertical clearances available for both tunnels. ** Can any of you other readers provide that clearance info? **
An alternate route, with no tunnels, is to stay on the Richmond bypass past the exit for I-64, and go to exit 3, onto Rte 460 east. This is an older road, is very straight and level, and is a charming, relaxing, relatively rural drive. - I use Rte 460 going to/from the northern Virginia/Washington DC area to the Outer Banks in North Carolina several times a year.

RE: So You Want To Buy A New Motorhome

WOW! Thanks for the link to your blog. It is hard to believe that a NEW RV can be delivered with such lousy quality, and lousy design defects.

RE: Battery cable size #2 or 2/0

Thank you, SCVJeff !!! And a 110 Volt extension cord that is too long will have enough of a voltage drop that you can burn out AC motors in your drill or saw, or RV.

I am always interested in, and save, the "thank you for good service" comments. They give me a list of where to shop or where to go. Thanks for posting this!
